Second Annual Show at Erie County Fair slated for August 16,17 & 18, 2013
We will be seeing everyone again this year at the Erie County Fair on the Second Weekend of one of the biggest and Oldest County Fairs in America. Mr Wayne Hipsley of Lexington, Ky will officiate all the classes approved by the United States Equestrian Federation over the three day weekend. Open classes will be offered for Carriage Pleasure Driving,Western Pleasure,English Pleasure and English Pleasure Driving as well as Breed Classes for Fjords,Friesians,Andalusian/Lusitanos and Gypsy Horses.
Lorick Stables finishes 2012 in #1 Position in the USA
After only a year and a half in the show ring Lorick Stables has proven the quality of our fifteen year Breeding program and the trainability of our Friesians for many Disciplines. We finished the year as 2012 USEF #1 Friesian Breeder and Owner by points earned by our horses in Halter,Driving,Dressage,Western,Saddle Seat and Specialty events like Costume and Youth exhibitor Divisions. Horses were shown by owner Rick Butts,Trainer Gareth Selwood and by our employees,Students and Amateur Friends from all across the country. It is a true testimony to our horses character and functionality to excel in so many disciplines with such a divers group of talented handlers. Nelis LSI was awarded the 2012 USEF National Championship Horse of the Year Title in Friesian Driving at the Annual Meeting in Louisville,Kentucky in January. In addition he was the 2012 IFSHA High Point Driving Horse in Open Driving and in the Friesian Division.
Hendrica LSI and Mink LSI are awarded 2012 USEF National Champion and Reserve
Hendrica LSI and Mink LSI are awarded 2012 USEF National Champion and Reserve in the Halter National Champion Friesian Horse of the year standings by points won at IFSHA/USEF Horse shows. These points were won at recognized events in Massachusets,Wisconsin,Ohio and New York. Nelis LSI came in fourth in the standings. Lorick Stables is very Proud of this #1 and #2 positions of our homebred Friesians. Hendrica has now sold to a breeder in Florida and will start her breeding career.
First Baroque Championships a Huge Success!
Lorick Stables sponsored three days of classes at the Erie County Fair on August 17,18 and 19, 2012 in Hamburg,NY. This was the first time such a show was offered at the facility and it was a big hit with owners, breeders and fairgoers. Thousands of people walked through the barns and watched the show giving the Baroque Breeds and our Fjords wonderful exposure. Horses traveled in from,Illinois, Wisconsin, Massachusets,Virginia and Canada. The Lorick Stables horses did extremely well. Mink LSI made his debut in canter classes and won four Regional Championships. Our Amateur riders and handlers did a wonderful job and really helped us out by traveling in from all over the country. First time Youth Exhibitors Haley and Corey Butts showed in the Showmanship division with their Aunt and Uncle’s Friesians Mink and Hendrica coming in Champion and Reserve. We are already planning next years show at the Fair and hope to see you there!
Lorick Stables Attends “Walnut Hill Driving Show”
Nelis LSI and Rick Butts made their debut at an ADS Competition at the legendary “Walnut Hill” near Rochester, New York. Nelis and Rick were very competitive at their first show in such Deep competition and came away fourth in the Reinsmanship and Sixth in Cones. Gareth drove Nelis to a win in the Costume class and we all had a great time and are looking forward to more ADS and CDS shows in 2013.
Nelis LSI was named IFSHA High Point Purebred Friesian of the Midwest Baroque Region 6 Championships in Elkhorn, Wisconsin
Nelis LSI was named IFSHA High Point Purebred Friesian of the Midwest Baroque Region 6 Championships in Elkhorn, Wisconsin for the second year in a row and his stablemate,Selwood Park Renegade won the Part Bred High Point. It was another incredible show for the Lorick Team with our Halter Horses once again sweeping the Regional Halter Championships in both Breeds. Hendrica LSI made her debut with Victoria Miller in Dressage Suitability winning both classes. Nelis LSI placed well in all divisions and made us all very proud. Mink LSI won the Fantasy Costume Class with Victoria and after a surprise entry, her boyfreind and our Farrier, Josh Burkhardt, won the Part Bred Costume Class on Selwood Park Renegade.Our Youth rider, Michelle Meyers rode extremely well and placed mostly in the top two all weekend. Thank You Wisconsin for another good time!

Victoria Miller joins “Team Lorick” for “Buckeye Baroque Horse Show”
Our new working student Tori Miller joined us for a great show in Springfield Ohio June 30-July 1 2012. After just riding with Gareth for a few short weeks she came through like a trooper winning many Championships under saddle on all the LSI horses. Gareth Showed Mink LSI , Selwood Park Renegade,Hendrica LSI, Chateaubriant do Passargada, Lucea BR and Selwood Park Spartacus to victory in Halter. In fact we were undefeated at Halter in both Friesian and the Andalusian divisions. Rick showed Mink LSI, Nelis LSI and Selwood Park Renegade to many Championships in harness. We are all looking forward to the next show in Wisconsin!
Mink LSI @ “The Baroque Horse of The Midwest” Horse Show
Mink LSI makes his debut in Driving and Under Saddle at “The Baroque Horse of The Midwest” Horse Show May 25-27,2012 in Wisconsin. We are very proud of our Mink LSI as he trotted to his first win in Country Pleasure Driving and good placings in Walk Trot Green Horse and Period Costume as well as Championship Ribbons at Halter. Nelis LSI Brought home a trunk of Ribbons including the IFSHA High Point Pure Bred Friesian award. Selwood Park Renegade was this show’s IFSHA High Point Part Bred Friesian winner and Hendrica LSI was Reserve Champion in Halter Open , Sport Horse and Amateur competitions. Our Andalusians and Lusitanos also did extremely well in Halter and Performance.
CRAA Spring Derby First Show of Season For Lorick Team
Our beautiful Mare Hendrica LSI was named IFSHA Region 1Champion Purebred Friesian Mare and IFSHA Region 1 Reserve Champion Friesian Sport Horse Mare with Gareth showing. Mink LSI was Region 1 Top Five in very deep Gelding and Liberty classes, remeniscent of the World Show in Virginia 2011. Nelis LSI came through as the Champion he always is with several wins in Harness and ending the weekend by being named Champion Open Pleasure Driving with owner/breeder Rick Butts as whip! Selwood Park Renegade remained undefeated in Halter competition by winning both his Region 1 titles and making his debut in Pleasure classes with our good friend Danielle Barrasso in the Irons for his maiden trip. Danielle rode him beautifully through some bumpy moments as he learns to canter in the big ring. The Lorick Show Team of Lorie ,Rick, Gareth.
